How Can Universities and Colleges Reduce Their Greenhouse Gas Footprint?
To find out, we moderated a peer-to-peer discussions with universities and colleges across Germany. Nicole Wrage-Mรถnnig from the University of Rostock asked: Which measures are truly effective? How can university members gain insight into their own impact through methods and tools, and what can motivate them to change their behavior?
A key success factor: The link between actions and impact must be visible. To encourage lasting behavioral change, people need continuous incentives, challenges, and regular impact assessments.
A success story: IT students installed power meters at workstations, giving university staff a transparent overview of their electricity consumption. The surprising outcome: During the measurement week alone, electricity consumption dropped by 10โ15% compared to the average.
๐ On March 27 and 28, we will share further insights and developments from our collaboration with the University of Rostock. Expect expert inputs on transformation processes and the development of concrete measures.
